Lantern Market and Lavender Loft: tips for levels 81 to 120

Chapter tips for PaneSlide levels 81 to 120: mystery pictures arrive at level 95, frosted glass and one-way glass return, and every board is now 5×5. How to plan when you cannot see everything.

Chapters 5 and 6 · 4 min read · Updated 29 October 2026

Chapters 5 and 6, Lantern Market (levels 81 to 100) and Lavender Loft (levels 101 to 120), are where PaneSlide starts testing what you know rather than what you can see. Frosted glass hides colours, and from level 95 mystery pictures hide parts of the target. This guide gives tips for both chapters, without full solutions.

What to expect

Almost every board is now 5×5, usually with four or five panes. Par sits between about 5 and 8 swipes across both chapters, and both bosses have a par of 7. The chapter rhythm stays the same: breathers on levels ending in 1 and 6, "aha" levels on 4, 7 and 9, a trophy challenge on 9, and a boss every 20 levels.

Lantern Market: levels 81 to 100

The first half of the Lantern Market practises the three mechanics you met most recently: frosted glass, sand and one-way glass. Each appears in about a third of the levels.

Frosted glass. A frosted pane hides its colour until it moves, but the target picture still shows the true colours. Before your first swipe, count the colours: if the picture needs more magenta than the visible magenta panes can give, the frosted pane must be magenta. The frosted glass guide walks through this reasoning. One useful fact: the game only frosts panes that need to move anyway, so you will always see every colour before you finish.

Sand with one-way glass. These two together can be strict. One-way glass can only go one way, and sand stops it the moment it slides on. If a one-way pane has a sand cell on its path, it can never get past that cell. So its final spot is either before the sand or on it. That often tells you its final spot at once.

Level 95: mystery pictures. The last new mechanic. At the start only 40% of the picture's cells are shown, and each swipe that moves a pane reveals more. On the perfect route, the whole picture is visible before your final swipe. The mystery pictures guide explains the exact rules. Mystery and frosted glass never appear in the same level, so you never have to deal with hidden colours and a hidden picture at once.

Level 100: the Lantern Market boss. It mixes sand and one-way glass. Start by finding every one-way pane and checking where its arrow lets it go, because those panes have the fewest choices.

Lavender Loft: levels 101 to 120

The Lavender Loft is the first chapter with no new mechanic. Instead it brings back mystery pictures, frosted glass and two-colour pictures most often, with everything else appearing at least once. Every board here is 5×5.

Mystery levels: plan in possibilities. With part of the picture hidden, you often cannot know every pane's final spot yet. That is fine.

  • Place the panes you can be sure of first. A pane whose rail runs through a visible part of the picture is often already decided.
  • Every swipe that moves a pane reveals more. A safe, useful first swipe is worth more than a long think about a pane you cannot decide.
  • Hidden cells can be anything: a colour, a mix, empty, or stone. Do not assume a hidden cell is empty.

Two-colour pictures with frost. With only two colours in the picture, a frosted pane's colour is easy to narrow down: it must be one of those two. Count the cells of each colour to decide which.

Level 120: the Lavender Loft boss. It combines frosted glass with a two-colour picture. Work out the frosted pane's colour from the picture first, then plan as usual.

A routine for levels you cannot fully see

  1. List what you know for sure. Visible cells, visible pane colours, fixed stoppers.
  2. List what you can work out. Colour counts often reveal a frosted pane. The rails often decide where a pane must finish.
  3. Make the safest useful swipe. On a mystery level, that move also reveals more of the picture.
  4. Re-read after each swipe. New information can change the plan. That is the point of these levels.

Tip. Hints still work on mystery and frosted levels, and they never cost stars. If you are unsure between two first swipes, a hint can settle it.

Stars at this stage

Three stars need par or par + 1 swipes. On a par-7 level that means 7 or 8 swipes. Two stars allow a few more. If you are collecting stars, it is often better to replay a level once you know the full picture than to push for three stars on your first, blind attempt.

Next: Desert Dunes, Snow Cabin and beyond, where the chapters start to loop with new combinations.
