Changelog
What's new in PaneSlide
Every update to PaneSlide, newest first. Dates are in Indian Standard Time.
PaneSlide is updated often. This page lists what changed in each version, in plain words. Your progress is never reset by an update. When a new version is ready, the game shows a small "new version" message with a Refresh button.
Version 10 · 29 October 2026
Bigger and better on laptops and desktops.
- A new desktop layout for wide screens. On the home screen, the title sits on the left with the main buttons on the right. While playing, the target picture and move meter sit on the left, a much larger board in the centre, and a Controls panel on the right. Tablets in portrait use a larger single column. Phones are unchanged.
- Keyboard controls. Pick a pane with Tab or the number keys 1 to 9, slide it with the arrow keys or W A S D, press Enter for the next pane, Z or Ctrl + Z to undo, H for a hint, M for music and Esc to close a window. See keyboard and mouse controls.
- Mouse hover. Panes highlight when you point at them, and the cursor shows when you can grab one.
- Guides are easier to read on big screens, with a comfortable line length and a side panel listing the sections of the page and related guides.
- Fixed: the Stats window could cut off its title ribbon and close button on some phones. All pop-up windows now keep their title and close button in place while the content scrolls. The daily results chart was redesigned to be clearer.
- Twenty new guides, including chapter-by-chapter tips, boss levels, beginner mistakes, advanced strategy, how puzzles are made, colour and stained glass, colour vision, accessibility, installing and offline play, rewards, and a glossary.
- Privacy-friendly stats. PaneSlide now counts page views and a short list of anonymous game events with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies. It never receives your name, email or progress, and it is switched off if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Version 9 · 29 October 2026
The PaneSlide website.
- New how to play page and the first 19 guides.
- The daily puzzle archive, a calendar of every past daily for practice.
- About, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and Contact pages.
- Install as an app and play offline. PaneSlide can be added to your home screen and works without a connection after your first visit.
- Progress code in Settings to move your progress to another phone or computer.
Version 8 · 29 October 2026
Nine kinds of glass and long-term goals.
- Nine mechanics, each introduced on its own teach level: locked glass, two-colour pictures, stone pillars, gems, ice, sand, one-way glass, frosted glass and mystery pictures.
- A boss every 20 levels, and chapters that feature different mechanics as you go.
- Shards, the Shop (hints, board skins and music moods), the daily gift, twelve badges, and the House, where each chapter restores a stained-glass window.
Version 7 · 29 October 2026
- Panes look like separate pieces of glass, with outlines that stay visible through overlaps.
- Animated help that shows each rule.
- Text fits on small 360-pixel-wide screens.
- Smoother background music that also works offline.
Version 4 · 29 October 2026
- A new glass look and short coach tips for first-time players.
- A gentler difficulty curve and more generous stars.
- Calm background music made inside the game.
Version 3 · 29 October 2026
Glide and stick.
- Panes now glide until something stops them, and stick when they slide onto new colour. Planning your swipes matters much more.
- Undo, and a map with a clear Play button.
- Every level up to 1,000 and every daily for the coming year is checked by an automatic solver for one answer and a correct par.
- From 30 October 2026, the daily puzzle uses these rules too. Earlier dailies in the archive keep the original drag rules.
Version 2 · 27 October 2026
- Harder early levels with more interesting traps, par set to the true minimum, and better colour blending.
Version 1 · 27 October 2026
- The first playable PaneSlide: the daily puzzle, followed the same evening by Levels mode, with endless levels, a map, stars, hints and chapters.
- A playful redesign, a fix so the game looks right when phones force dark mode, and a self-hosted font.
Behind every update
Each version is checked before release: every level and daily is re-solved by a separate program, and pages are tested on small phones, large phones, tablets and desktops, and with browser dark modes. If you spot a problem, please tell us on the contact page.
